What a weekend for the Firestone Robotics Club! This was the last Ohio State qualifier of the year, and four awards for qualification were presented; three alliance winners and one excellence winner. Of those four, Firestone took home two. We had a good morning to start us off, we left around 6 am to get to the competition, arrived around 8, and set up the pits. The qualification matches were fast paced, Rob Smith kept things moving along nicely. Log books were turned in before the matches started, and interviews were a little haphazard, on a 'come when you have time between matches' basis. I feel overall, it was a very well run tournament. By the end of qualification matches, the standings for Firestone were:
9.) 7316C 3-2-0 (6/144) 10.) 7316A 3-2-0 (6/111) 11.) 7316D 3-2-0 (6/98) 23.) 7316E 2-3-0 (4/107) 26.) 7316B 2-3-0 (4/88)
All teams except 7316E were selected for an alliance, and of teams A-D, all but team A were eliminated in the quarter finals. Team 7316A progressed to the semi-finals, and then the finals, eventually winning the tournament with teams 4112A from Zanesville High School and 6741 of Pickerington High School Central.
Once the finals were finished, the awards ceremony held two surprises for our school; not only had 7316A won the tournament and subsequently qualified for States, but team 7316C was presented with both the Design AND Excellence Awards!
We are incredibly proud of how ALL teams competed this year, and are so glad to have such an amazing group of students that are so dedicated to the program. A huge thank you to all the parents and all you who have supported us along the way, we couldn't do it without you. Good Luck to ALL teams, now and in the future. We'll see you at States!
